West Virginia adds 2023 commitment from versatile special teams player

West Virginia picked up a verbal commitment in the class of 2023 on Friday, as kicker/punter/running back Luke Savino said he will be committing to West Virginia University.

Savino, who is in the class of 2023 is from Somers High School in New York. This season, Savino was 3/4 on field goal attempts, with a long of 40 yards. He also was 43/49 on extra-point attempts. On kickoffs, Savino recorded a touchback 76% of the time.

Savino was also utilized on offense this past season, rushing for 1,230 yards on 152 carries.

“Thank you Coach Brown, Coach Koonz and Coach Thompson for giving me the opportunity to play college football,” Savino said on Twitter. “I am incredibly proud and excited to announce my commitment to West Virginia University.”
