The latest Associated Press Men’s Basketball Poll released on Monday, Dec. 12, was somewhat kind to the Mountaineers as it pertains to scheduling and for their current odds of getting ranked.
The biggest news from the poll was Purdue taking the No. 1 overall ranking, a game in which WVU lost by 12 to on a neutral court last month.
Purdue, along with No. 7 Texas, No. 8 Kansas, No. 11 Baylor, No. 19 Auburn, and No. 21 TCU are all ranked teams who West Virginia is scheduled to play throughout the remainder of the regular season.
The Mountaineers also received 20 votes themselves, one of 19 teams to receive votes in this week’s poll. West Virginia’s 20 votes put them at the No. 34 ranking in the country, if you were to include the teams who received votes in this week’s poll.
The Big 12 had eight of their 10 teams either ranked or receiving votes in this week’s poll. West Virginia’s 20 votes are up from the eight they received in last week’s poll.
