WVU wide receiver Reese Smith and quarterback Will “Goose” Crowder have announced their intentions to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal.
Smith, who came from head coach Neal Brown’s high school in Boyle County, Kentucky, enters the portal after catching 19 passes for 205 yards and a touchdown in 2022. Smith will have two years of eligibility remaining.
Smith said, “I want to thank the university of West Virginia, Coach Brown, Coach Mike, and the rest of the staff, along with all of Mountaineer Nation for welcoming me with open arms and continuously supporting me.”
Crowder was a former 3-star quarterback in the class of 2021 and just finished up his redshirt freshman season at WVU. Crowder never saw a lot of game action, but the Alabama native completed all six of his passes for 57 yards and a touchdown in WVU’s win over Towson.
Crowder was in a crowded quarterback room, and he said, “I am extremely grateful for Coach Brown and the whole staff at West Virginia University for giving me the opportunity to play college football.”
