The offseason is underway for West Virginia as they continue to try and pick out talent in the transfer portal to improve their team. So far West Virginia has made offers to multiple players in the transfer portal.
Kenney Solomon, Tulsa, CB
Kenny Solomon is in the portal after spending the past two seasons at Tulsa. Prior to that, he spent two seasons at Tennessee.
This past year, Solomon had 19 tackles and a sack, while being used also on special teams. Solomon also holds an offer from California and West Virginia appears to be one of the first major schools to make an offer to Solomon.
The Mountaineers are going after Solomon to try and fix what was a big area of weakness on the defense — their secondary.
Jimmy Horn Jr, USF, WR
Jimmy Horn Jr is a 5-foot-10, 175-pound wide receiver from University of South Florida.
Horn is a versatile player on offense, who can stretch the field and is valuable on special teams as well. Horn had nine rushed for 95 yards and a touchdown to go along with 37 catches for 551 yards and three touchdowns. On special teams, Horn had seven kick returns for 209 yards and a touchdown.
Horn’s special teams work earned him a spot on the American Athletic Conference All-Conference First Team as a return specialist.
Horn also holds offers from Pitt, Virginia Tech, Penn State, and Missouri, and he is narrowing his choices down to the final four on Sunday and then committing on Christmas.
AJ Cornelius, Rhode Island, OL
Aj Cornelius is one of the hottest names in the transfer portal and West Virginia has already tried to make their case.
Cornelius was First Team All-CAA this year, and holds offers from at least 15 schools thus far. He just finished his sophomore season, starting every game for Rhode Island at right tackle.
The 6-foot-5, 310-pound lineman just completed his redshirt-sophomore season.
Tyrese Chambers, FIU, WR
Another wide receiver West Virginia has made attempts to get is Tyrese Chambers from Florida International.
Chambers had 54 catches for 544 yards and four touchdowns this season. Chambers was a senior this past year and is from Baltimore.
Chambers holds offers from Louisville, Arizona State, and UCF among other schools.
Drae McCray, Austin Peay, WR
Drae McCray is another wide receiver on this list who is getting multiple looks from other schools. McCray has played in 22 career games, catching 129 passes for 1,888 yards, and 17 touchdowns.
McCray was a sophomore this past season and holds offers from Oregon, Texas Tech, Maryland, Virginia Tech and Louisville among other schools.
