WVU’s Donaldson out for the remainder of the year

West Virginia’s star freshman running back will be out for the remainder of the season, after having surgery on a leg injury, Mountaineer head coach Neal Brown announced Monday.

Donaldson exited in the second half of Saturday’s game against No. 7 TCU and then according to Brown had surgery on Monday.

“He’ll be out for the season,” Brown said. “He had surgery yesterday.”

This season, Donaldson has rushed for 526 yards on 87 rushes and scored eight touchdowns on the ground.

Donaldson, a true freshman from Miami, will not be facing a longer injury such as a torn ACL, it seems to have been a break of a bone in his lower leg, as Brown said there will not be further implications for Donaldson later on.

“Not something that will keep him out a really long time, but he’ll miss the rest of the year,” Brown said.
