West Virginia (6-6-4, 3-1-4), concluded their season on friday night on the road against Georgia Southern (1-13-1, 0-7), picking up a 3-1 victory.
The Mountaineers had three different goal scorers on the night, with senior forward Dyon Dromers, junior midfielder Sergio Ors Navarro and 5th year senior Adam Burchell all picking up goals in the evening. Dromers goal was his fifth of the season, which leads the team.
West Virginia out-shot the Eagles 10-8 in the match, with a 4-3 shots on goal advantage. Mountaineers keeper Lee Jackson made two saves in the match.
Dyon Dromers opened the scoring in the 27th minute, beating Georgia Southern keeper Maverick Boring in the bottom right of the goal to give the Mountaineers the lead.
Georgia Southern was able to respond just before the half, in the 42nd minute Mauro Gutierrez-Solis beat Mountaineer keeper Lee Jackson to level the score.
West Virginia wouldn’t go into the half tied though, with Serio Ors Navarro responding with a goal just a minute later to give the Mountaineers the lead heading into the break. Ryan Crooks and Yutaro Tsukada picked up assists on the goal.
The Mountaineers would add an insurance goal in the 59th minute, with Adam Burchell slotting one into the bottom left corner off of a pass from Yutaro Tsukada, his second assist of the match.
The Mountaineers will not head into the Big 12 tournament on a two game win streak.
