West Virginia (6-4-7), played their final road match of the season, beating Oklahoma (8-7-3) 3-2 on Sunday in Norman.
The Mountaineers came back from a 2-0 first half deficit, which was their largest comeback of the season to secure the win in Norman. West Virginia dominated the match in shots, with 17 to Oklahoma’s nine.
Senior midfielder AJ Rodriguez scored two goals for the Mountaineers, giving her a team leading five goals this season. Dilary Heredia-Beltran added the third, with her second goal of the year. Kayza Massey also made five saves, including a scoreless second half in the win.
The scoring was opened in the 17th minute by Oklahoma’s Cailey England, who put a shot into the bottom right of the net, beating Mountaineers keeper Kayza Massey to take a 1-0 lead.
Their lead would double in the 33rd minute when Chelsea Wagner beat Massey again in the lower right corner.
West Virginia wouldn’t take long to answer the second goal, scoring only four minutes later in the 37th minute, with senior midfielder AJ Rodriguez scoring her team leading fourth goal of the year.
It would take until the 72nd minute for the Mountaineers to find the equalizer, with AJ Rodriguez scoring her second goal of the match to even the game.
Six minutes later, Dilary Heredia-Beltran found the back of the net, and the winning goal for West Virginia to complete the comeback from 2-0 down.
