After securing a 4-0 win over Old Dominion on Saturday, West Virginia will look to pick up consecutive wins for the first time this season as they host Lehigh on Tuesday.
On Saturday, West Virginia’s offense scored early and often. The Mountaineers scored twice within the first 15 minutes, with freshman forward Marcus Caldeira recording two goals. The 4-0 win was the first Sun Belt Conference win in West Virginia school history, and was the first road win of the season.
The Mountaineers will be returning home, a place where they have had success. In five games played at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium, the Mountaineers are 2-1-2, and have not lost in 17 of their past 18 matches at home.
Lehigh enters Tuesday having won 1-0 over the weekend against Lafayette. Their lone goal came with under two minutes to play as freshman Ryan Kuldanek was able to find the back of the net.
Senior Jack Sarkos has scored seven goals this season, which ranked first in the Patriot League and 19th in the country.
Lehigh has had five different players find the back of the net compared to 10 Mountaineers who have scored this season.
Tuesday’s meeting will be the second ever meeting between West Virginia and Lehigh, with the previous meeting coming on Oct. 5, 2021, with the two schools finishing the game in a 1-1 draw.
The match will take place on Tuesday at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium, with kickoff set for 7 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPN+.
