JJ Quinerly and Madisen Smith both have been tabbed as Preseason All-Big 12 Honorable Mention selections.
Smith, a fifth-year senior guard, was awarded All-Big 12 Honorable Mention following last season, after she averaged 9.1 points and 4.3 assists per game. Smith, has 107 career starts in 112 games played in a West Virginia uniform.
Quinerly, a sophomore guard, took the league by surprise last season, averaging 8.8 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.3 steals per game. She played in 30 games last season, starting 12 games, and was named to the Big 12 All-Freshman Team in 2022.
The Mountaineers will be under the instruction of new head coach Dawn Plitzuweit this season, as she is the sixth women’s basketball coach in WVU history, replacing longtime coach Mike Carey.
