True freshman CJ Donaldson was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week this week after rushing for 125 yards and a touchdown on just seven carries.
Donaldson also blocked a punt which set up his five-yard rushing touchdown early in the third quarter. The Miami native, is the first Mountaineer to rush for over 100 yards in his debut since Martell Pettaway did it against Iowa State in 2016.
Spencer Sanders of Oklahoma State was named the offensive player of the week, Lonnie Phelps Jr. of Kansas was named defensive player of the week and Derius Davis of TCU was named special teams player of the week in the Big 12.
