Former Mountaineer Alek Manoah strikes out the side in the 2022 MLB All-Star Game

Former West Virginia pitcher Alek Manoah shined at baseball’s brightest stage on Tuesday. Manoah came into the game to pitch the second inning for the American League.

Manoah struck out back-to-back hitters to start the inning, getting William Contreras of the Atlanta Braves to go down looking, then retired San Francisco Giant Job Pederson on a foul tip. Manoah then hit Jeff McNeil of the Mets in a two-strike count, before striking out the Braves’ Ronald Acuña Jr. on a fastball to end the inning.

Manoah is one of six Toronto Blue Jays participating in the All-Star Game and he did not disappoint.
