West Virginia men’s basketball longtime assistant head coach Erik Martin announced Monday afternoon that he was leaving Morgantown and West Virginia University for a head coaching position.
Martin tweeted out his thank you to the town and university for the past 15 years of his coaching career as he has accepted a position as the head coach at South Carolina State University.
Martin has been an assistant for Mountaineers head coach Bob Huggins since the 2006-2007 season at Kansas State and previously played for Huggins at Cincinnati during the 1991-1993 seasons. The pair have had a close knit relationship dating back to their time at Cincinnati.
