Junior college transfer Jaylon Shelton announced his commitment to WVU on Twitter Saturday evening.
“I’ve always dreamed of playing in the Big 12,” said Shelton. “WVU is going to provide great
opportunities for me, and I’ll have all of the tools I need to reach my dream of playing in the NFL.”
The 6’2” defensive back played his first two years at Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas.
“Coming in, I feel like I can make an immediate impact on the defensive side of the ball,” he said.
At Tyler, Shelton totaled 26 solo tackles and seven assists with three interceptions. After two years at
the junior college level, Shelton has 3 years of eligibility left.
Shelton’s talent will add depth to the cornerback room, joining returning Mountaineers Charles Woods
and Naim Muhammad.
“Coach Brown really took care of me and my family,” said Shelton, following his official visit on Friday. “I
really felt like I was at home.”
