Emmitt Matthews Jr. announces return to West Virginia

Former Mountaineer Emmitt Matthews Jr. is back home.
 
Matthews, who spent three seasons at West Virginia before transferring to Washington, hit the transfer portal last week, and on Friday announced his return to West Virginia. In four seasons, Matthews has averaged 7.8 points per game and 3.8 rebounds per game.
 
While at West Virginia, Matthews averaged 6.4 points per game and 3.5 rebounds per game, while at Washington this past season, Matthews averaged 11.7 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.
 
Matthews, a 6-foot-7, 215 pound forward hails from Tacoma, Washington, and Matthews will have one year of eligibility remaining.
