Former five-star quarterback who had previously made stops at USC and Georgia is headed to Morgantown, as JT Daniels has committed to play for the Mountaineers.
The 6-foot-3, 210 pound quarterback visited WVU on Saturday, after narrowing down his final three schools to Oregon State, Missouri, and West Virginia.
Daniels comes to West Virginia after spending time at USC and Georgia. Daniels entered the transfer portal soon after Georgia won the national championship this past season, after he finished the season on the bench. Daniels was the starter for the Bulldogs to start the year, but a strained oblique muscle sidelined him, and Stetson Bennett took the quarterback job and ran with it; propelling Georgia to a national championship.
Current WVU offensive coordinator Graham Harrell was Daniels’ offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at USC in 2019, before he got hurt, suffering a season-ending knee injury. Daniels was 68-of-94 passing for 722 yards with 7 touchdowns and 3 interceptions in six games this season with Georgia.
Daniels will have two years of eligibility remaining, being a redshirt senior, as well as having his extra COVID year of eligibility. Daniels is now the most experienced quarterback West Virginia’s roster, as well now being the presumed starter week one against Pitt.
