Neal Brown is thrilled to see another one of his former Mountaineers put on an NFL uniform this season.
WVU offensive tackle turned Jacksonville Jaguars guard Wyatt Milum earned praise from his former coach on Saturday after being selected in the third round of the NFL Draft. Former WVU head coach Neal Brown shared his excitement for Milum with WV Sports Now’s Mike Asti.
“Extremely excited for Wyatt and his entire family,” Asti quoted from Brown in an X post.
“Love the guy and what he’s about. Tremendous character and work ethic. He’s a great teammate. I really believe he’s a 1st round player and his college tape backs that up.”
The most recent edition of WVU Football saw Milum and Brown working together, as they had for Milum’s four seasons in Morgantown. Milum started on Brown’s offensive line since he was a freshman, when he was named to multiple Freshman All-America teams.
Milum is now the third offensive lineman to be selected in the NFL Draft after playing under Brown at WVU. He joins 49ers 2020 fifth-round pick Colton McKivitz and 2023 Steelers second-round selection Zach Frazier.
Both McKivitz and Frazier started in every game they played in 2024, with Frazier only missing two contests. Brown expects Milum to earn similar treatment and hold a starting role for the foreseeable future.
“Jaguars got a great one. He’s going to be a starter in the NFL for a long time,” Brown said.
