Brodie Kresser, one of the best shortstops in the entire country, has been named to the Brooks Wallace Award Watch List. He is the leader of a 32-4 West Virginia team, currently ranked No. 24 in the country.
After being one of the best players on the record-breaking super regional team last season, Kresser came into 2025 firing on all cylinders. In 130 at-bats, Kresser has a .308 batting average and 28 RBIs, while having an on-base percentage of over 40%.
WVU head coach Steve Sabins has continuously preached Kresser’s passion and love for the game, and it has shown this year. After breaking his nose earlier in the season, he returned hours later to face Kennesaw State, where he recorded three hits, including a three-run home run blast. He has created a winning culture in a WVU program that is poised to have one of the best seasons in program history.
Kresser’s drive and skill set on the field are why he is getting the recognition that he has always deserved, but with so much season still to go, the job is nowhere near over for the senior shortstop.
Kresser and the rest of the Mountaineers will look to keep their amazing season going when they face Cincinnati in the second game of the series tonight, Apr. 18 at 6:30 p.m. ET.
