Within the hour, 3-star commit, Deandre Thomas Jr. out of Allen, Texas announced on social media that he would be following Ross Hodge to West Virginia and will commit to play for the Mountaineers for the 2025-2026 season.
The 6’7 Power Forward held offers from North Texas, Oral Roberts, Rice, Holy Cross, West Virginia, Tulsa, UC Riverside, UTSA, Utah Tech, and Texas Rio Grande Valley. Thomas signed his letter of intent to North Texas on November 16th with hopes of going to play for Coach Hodge. Now that Coach Hodge has recently accepted the Head Coaching vacancy at West Virginia, Thomas Jr. decided to follow him to the mountain state.
This is a big pickup for the Mountaineers, the 210-pound Power forward is ranked as the 62nd best Power forward in the class of 2025 and the 27th-best recruit in the state of Texas. Thomas will be competing with 6’8 Senior, and Montreal, Quebec native Haris Elezovic for the starting spot at the Power forward spot this upcoming year.
Ross Hodge has started to build what will eventually be a complete roster over the last few days. By the looks of it, Ross Hodge is putting a hard focus on not only size but the two positions down low for shot blocking and efficient scoring. Deandre Thomas Jr. is a recruit who will bring that to the program and will continue to develop his skills to hopefully become a valuable asset to Coach Hodge and the rest of the team.
