Utah State head coach Jerrod Calhoun has been signed to a new contract, keeping him in Utah until 2030.
Calhoun was a top prospect for the vacancy at head coach for West Virginia after the departure of Darian DeVries.
Calhoun led the Aggies to a 26-8 record this season, helping them finish third in the Mountain West, even though they were expected to place sixth in the preseason poll. This achievement gave the team its third consecutive 26-win season and a third straight trip to the NCAA Tournament.
The new deal will make Calhoun the second highest paid Mountain West Conference head coach behind San Diego’s Brian Dutcher.
Calhoun’s new contract gives him a 1.85 million dollar per year pay raise that is set to start in the 2025-2026 season. The deal gives him annual increases in pay per year for the over four years he has left on his contract. In addition Calhoun will receive financial compensation for his assistant coaches.
The Aggies are all in on coach Calhoun and are investing not only in him but their program’s continued development and future.
With Calhoun completely out of the conversation and Wren Baker having no set date to announce a new head coach, the Mountaineers are back to the drawing board and must act fast as their pool of candidates continues to dwindle.
