Rich Rodriguez social media ban gets national attention

The social media ban West Virginia football head coach Rich Rodriguez set for his players regarding “Tik Tok,” has reached the national stage. Outlets such as Good Morning America, USA Today, ESPN, the New York Times, and Barstool Sports have pounced on the topic.

In a press conference held Monday afternoon, Rodriguez made it clear the athletes are not to be posting in uniform.

“They’re going to be on it, so I’m not banning them from it, I’m just banning them from dancing on it,” Rodriguez said. “We try to have a hard edge or whatever, and you’re in there in your tights dancing on TikTok ain’t quite the image of our program that I want.”

He then went on to punish them by making them perform workouts including pushing weights with the athletes’ bios from the app on the weight plates and making them hold wall sits while freshman performed viral dances from the app in front of them.
