The Big Twelve Men’s basketball awards were just announced for the 2025 season and two Mountaineers in particular found their names on pretty major lists.
Javon Small was a final and clear-cut contender to win Big Twelve Player of the Year. However, that award was given to JT Toppin. The Red Raider was named Big 12 Player and Newcomer of the Year and looks to continue his dominance in the Big 12 Tournament.
Despite taking a loss on the biggest award, Javon Small still finds himself in elite company as he was named to the All-Big Twelve First Team list. Javon was joined by other college basketball superstars such as Kansas’s Hunter Dickinson, Arizona’s Caleb Love, and JT Toppin.
Javon was not the only West Virginia player to some of the Big Twelve’s prestigious honors. But the young buck, Sincere Harris was named to the All-Big Twelve Defensive Team. An award given to the top defenders in the Big Twelve conference. Harris is known for his scrappy style of play and most notably his lockdown defensive abilities.
Harris is accompanied on this list by other notable names within the conference. Jayden Quaintance from Arizona State, J’Wan Roberts, and Joseph Tugler from Houston, and Tamin Lipsey from Iowa State all accompany Sincere Harris on this prestigious list.
This was a historic season for the Mountaineers, and both Harris and Small, in their unique respective ways, were factors in the Mountaineer’s overall success in the 2025 season. Nobody is more deserving of these awards than these two young competitors.
