West Virginia Falls to No. 14 Baylor

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (March 1, 2025) – The West Virginia University women’s tennis team lost to No. 14 Baylor, 4-0, on Saturday in Waco, Texas.

This marked the third straight loss for West Virginia (6-7, 0-2 Big 12) after winning four in a row.

To begin the match, Baylor rolled through doubles as it won, 6-2, in the No. 1 seed match, and 6-0 in the No. 2 spot.

In singles play, the Bears clinched the match with wins in the No. 2, No. 5 and No. 6 seed matches.

Freshman Lyla Byers lost in the No. 5 spot to Baylor’s Nanaka Sato, 6-0, 6-4. Graduate student Julie Bousseau lost to No. 80 Na Dong in the No 2 seed match, 6-2, 6-3.

Baylor’s Sierra Berry clinched the match with a win over Susannah Su in the No. 6 seed match.
