In a recent episode of the Mark Kellogg Show presented by Kegler’s Sports Bar and Grille, West Virginia women’s basketball head coach Mark Kellogg and Andrew Caridi got together to discuss previous conference losses and upcoming matches. Kellogg shared his team is learning to trust each other as the season progresses.
West Virginia fell to No. 24 Oklahoma State after coming off of a big win on the road against Texas Tech. The Mountaineers prepare to face Colorado this evening, who they lost to in their first conference game. The only difference is the Buffs will be traveling to Morgantown.
“The Colorado loss and Oklahoma State loss felt very similar to me and we got double digit leads in both of those on the road,” Kellogg said.
The Mountaineers dominated both games but began to lose momentum in the second half. Kellogg shared their connection and communication, shooting percentage, and defense were areas where they struggled.
“We were forcing shots. We weren’t trusting some things,” Kellogg siad.
With a conference record of 3-2, the Mountaineers hope to overpower Colorado this evening at home. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
