West Virginia announces hire of Dusty Rutledge

Rich Rodriguez hired Dusty Rutledge as the chief of staff for the Mountaineer football program. He previously worked at West Virginia under Rodriguez from 2001-2007.

Rutledge comes from Jacksonville State where he held the chief of staff position under Rodriguez since 2021. He also worked at ULM with the same position. The relationship between Rutledge and Rodriguez goes way back, as Rutledge was the defensive line coach and special teams coordinator under Rodriguez for three seasons at Glenville State (1994-96).

Rutledge remains one of college football’s last player-coaches.
