A Look at WVU Football’s Transfer Additions So Far

WVU has started to bring in some new players for the upcoming season; they have gotten five commitments so far; let’s take a look at them.

Oran Singleton, WR

Singleton is a three-star wide receiver transferring from Eastern Michigan. In 2024, he recorded 639 receiving yards on 64 receptions and two caught touchdowns. Singleton held an offer from Jacksonville State, and then, with the Rich Rodriguez news, he committed to WVU. Singleton will have one year of eligibility remaining.

Jordan Scruggs, DB

Scruggs was the first player to land in Morgantown this offseason. In 2024, with South Alabama, he got his first opportunity to play and recorded 33 solo tackles and 69 in total, one interception, and two passes defended. Scruggs left South Alabama as a three-star cornerback and was ranked No.33 for all cornerbacks in the portal by Onn3. Scruggs held offers from Utah State, Akron, and Old Dominion before choosing WVU.

Jacob Barrick, TE

Barrick is a tight end from Martinsburg, West Virginia. He spent his last two seasons at Jacksonville State with Rich Rodriguez. Barrick recorded nine catches for 102 yards over the previous two seasons. Bowie is a 6-foot-3, 235-pound tight end with one year of eligibility remaining.

Jarod Bowie, WR

Bowie, like Jacob Barrick, is also from Martinsburg, West Virginia, he also spent his first three seasons under Rich Rodriguez at Jacksonville State. Over his time there, he recorded 13 catches for 207 yards and no touchdowns in 2024. Bowie is a three-star wide receiver who stands at 5-foot-9, 160 pounds. Bowie will have one year of eligibility remaining.

Walter Young Bear, OL

Young Bear is a redshirt junior interior offensive lineman who committed to WVU. Young Bear spent each of his last four seasons at Tulsa, where he would redshirt in 2021, but has since appeared in at least 10 games each year. Young Bear stands at 6 foot 3, 312 pounds and will for sure have the opportunity to fight for a starting spot on the offensive line for WVU.

West Virginia has a lot of work left to be done with this off-season, but for Rich Rodriguez, not having a complete staff for this class so far is a step in the right direction for the Mountaineers.
