With one regular season game left and one bowl game, it may be appropriate to begin to look at the future for West Virginia.
Everytime the Mountaineers win, head coach Neal Brown gives out weekly awards. One of the awards went to freshman quarterback Khalil Wilkins.
“The developmental guys offense was Khalil Wilkins. Excited about him he’s making some some real advancements,” Brown said.
Brown has also talked about the 6-foot-3 lefty earlier in the season. He said that Wilkins has shown flashes on scout team, but would need to improve his decision making.
Now, Brown says he’s making strides, which is a positive sign for the future. However, Wilkins would presumably be third in line after Garrett Greene graduates the program.
Redhisrt sophomore Nicco Marchiol, who is the current backup and who has started two games this season would be first and redshirt freshman Ryder Burton, who transferred from BYU this offseason would be second. So, Wilkins may not see the field for a while, but Brown has given small insights into what the future may hold with the former three-star recruit from Upper Marlboro, Maryland.
