Sophomore wide receiver Traylon Ray talked about the difference in quarterbacks, having had both Garrett Greene and Nicco Marchiol throw passes to him this season.
Traylon Ray has continued to produce in his second year with the Mountaineers, coming off a strong freshman campaign. He ranks second in team receiving yards with 366 and is tied for the team lead in touchdowns with 3.
In Monday’s press conference, Ray discussed the difference for the wide receivers if Greene continues to be out and Marchiol steps in for the second straight week.
“There’s not really much of a difference for me and the receivers. You see six (Greene) back there, you know you your job as a receiver is to go catch it, you see eight (Marchiol), you got the same job, so,” Ray said.
In the Mountaineer’s last game against Arizona, Traylon Ray and Nicco Marchiol connected for the team’s longest play of the season, resulting in a 54-yard touchdown.
The Mountaineers are confident in Marchiol if he needs to step in for a second consecutive game, believing that the offense wouldn’t suffer without their starter Greene.
“It’s really important for the receivers because once we got here, we got all receivers here, and we made sure we built a relationship with both of them,” Ray said.
The Mountaineers will travel to take on Cincinnati at noon EST on Saturday in a huge Big 12 matchup.
