How WVU Transfers Have Performed in 2024

With the 2024 college football regular season coming to an end soon, let’s look at how some former Mountaineers have fared this year.

The following will only consider former West Virginia players who transferred after last season and recorded stats in 2024. The list will be sorted in alphabetical order.

Andrew Wilson-Lamp

Wilson-Lamp is a defensive back who spent 2021-2023 at WVU. He is now at East Carolina as a redshirt junior and has recorded nine total tackles (eight solo) and an interception this season.

Cortez Braham Jr.

Braham was one of two wide receivers dismissed from the team midseason last year. He was at WVU in 2022 and 2023 after transferring in from Hutchinson Community College. This season, he has 34 catches for 367 yards and two touchdowns with Nevada, all career-highs at the FBS level.

Daniel King

King was a backup placekicker for West Virginia and made two extra-point attempts against Duquense last year. He is now at Southern Utah where he kicks and has punted twice. He is four-for-four on extra-point attempts and two-for-five on field goal attempts.

Hershey McLaurin

McLaurin was a defensive starter for WVU last year and he stayed in the Big 12, transferring to Houston. The DB has 32 total tackles (18 solo), two passes defended and a forced fumble so far this season for the Cougars.

James Heard

Heard, a linebacker transferred last season after spending it redshirting as a freshman. Now, at Syracuse, he has eight total tackles (two solo) and an interception.

Jared Bartlett

Arguably the most productive player on this list, Bartlett had an extensive career with the Mountaineers. Like McLaurin, a fellow defender, he also stayed in-conference, transferring to Cincinnati. With the Bearcats this season, he has 42 tackles (21 solo), 5.5 sacks and three passes defended. The sacks and passes defended are both career highs for Bartlett.

Ja’Shaun Poke

After four years at Kent State, Poke spent 2023 with the Mountaineers, making just two catches. He is now at San Diego State and has made 34 catches for 270 yards.

Jeremiah Aaron

Aaron, the other wide receiver dismissed from the team, was also a JUCO product before coming to WVU but has not been quite as productive as Braham. This season, with North Texas, he has five catches for 97 yards and a touchdown.

Keyshawn Cobb

Cobb spent just one season at WVU seeing little action after transferring from Buffalo. The safety, now at Nevada, has 22 total tackles this season (14 solo), three passes defended, an interception and a sack.

Lance Dixon

Dixon, a linebacker, began his career at Penn State in 2019, transferred to WVU in 2021 and then transferred to Toledo after last season. In 2024, he has 31 total tackles (18 solo), three passes defended, two sacks and a forced fumble. He is on pace to have career highs in every category.

Mike Lockhart

Lockhart, a defensive lineman, spent two seasons at West Virginia after transferring from Georgia Tech. Now, with SMU, he has 15 total tackles (one solo) and two passes defended.

Tomiwa Durojaiye

Durojaiye, a redshirt freshman last season, had 3.5 sacks with the Mountaineers. He has since transferred to Florida State and made little impact, having just one tackle this season.
