West Virginia quarterback Garrett Greene’s status remains up in the air for their week nine matchup against Arizona.
Greene was injured during the first half of WVU’s loss against Kansas State and did not return in the second half. He had 88 rushing yards and was nine of 19 passing for 85 yards and a touchdown but did throw two interceptions.
One person expects Greene to play, Arizona head coach Brent Brennan. He was asked what it’s been like preparing for both quarterbacks.
“Well, I think that’s one of those challenges that you just have to deal with, right? Both of them are good players, both of them have made plays for them. And so, you go into the game and you have to have a plan that kind of encompasses both,” Brennan said. “But you know I think Greene’s going to play like the kid’s a tough kid. You know what I mean? And he’s a good player like I’d be surprised if he doesn’t play. But just whatever it is like, we have to be able to line up and execute the details of our assignments and that’s where the focus needs to be.”
This season, Greene, a senior spending his second season starting under center for the Mountaineers, has 1,352 passing yards, 10 passing touchdowns, and nine interceptions. On the ground, he is West Virginia’s leading rusher with 471 rushing yards to go along with three rushing touchdowns.
Greene’s status is likely to become known closer to Saturday’s kickoff, which will be at 7 p.m. EST.
