On Monday, Coastal Carolina fired their offensive coordinator, Travis Trickett.
Trickett graduated from West Virginia and was a student assistant under Rich Rodriguez from 2003 to 2007. He was an offensive graduate assistant at Alabama and Florida State before he got a job at Samford as a slot receivers/tight ends coach in 2011.
He was promoted to their offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach from 2012-15. In 2016, he joined Florida Atlantic’s staff, serving the same positions.
After just a year with the Owls, he became Georgia State’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, where he spent the 2017 and 2018 seasons.
He returned to his alma mater in 2019, where he was an assistant coach under Neal Brown as the Mountaineers inside receivers and tight ends coach. Trickett left WVU after the 2021 season to become South Florida’s offensive coordinator.
Trickett was in his second year with Coastal Carolina, serving as their offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach before he was let go.
The Chanticleers are 4-3 this season (1-2 in conference play) and are coming off a loss to the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns.
Coastal Carolina ranks 68th overall in total offense among FBS teams this season.
