WVU Women’s Soccer Blanks Baylor

The West Virginia women’s soccer shut out Baylor in a 2-0 win on the road.

It was the programs 400th all-time win.

West Virginia’s first loss in conference play was Thursday against No.12 TCU. The Mountaineers traveled to Baylor looking to bounce back.

The Mountaineers’ offense stood out in the first half, tallying ten shots to Baylor’s three. The offensive pressure led to a goal in the 43rd minute by Sophomore defender Olivia Shertzer, giving the Mountaineers the game’s first goal.

WVU came into the second half and scored quickly in the 46th minute with a goal by senior forward Dillary Heredia-Beltran, her third of the season.

The Mountaineers would hold the 2-0 lead for the rest of the game despite Baylor’s strong second-half offense. In the second half, Baylor recorded 11 shots, including four shots on goal.

The Mountaineers improve their record to 10-3-2 and 5-1-1 in Big-12 play. The Mountaineers will host another Big-12 opponent in Texas Tech on Thursday, Oct. 17, at 7 pm EST for Fan Appreciation night. The game will be televised on ESPN+.
