Redshirt freshman linebacker Josiah Trotter has been one of West Virginia’s defenders statistically.
Trotter is the Mountaineers’ leading tackler with 34 total tackles (16 solo) and has stepped into the starting linebacker role this season after not playing and redshirting all of last season due to injury. Another impressive performance against Oklahoma State last week landed Trotter the designation of Defensive Player of the Week by head coach Neal Brown.
“Josiah Trotter, he continues to get better and he’s going to be special before his time’s done here,” Brown said.
In the 38-14 win, Trotter led WVU with six total tackles (two solo). In coverage, he broke up a pass in the back of the endzone and made a toe-tap interception.
With multiple years of eligibility left, West Virginia expects Trotter to continue to develop and be a cornerstone in their defense for years to come.
