WVU Women’s Soccer Improves to 4-0 in Conference Play

WVU women’s soccer beat Arizona State 2-1 on Thursday to improve its BIg-12 conference play record to 4-0 for the first time since 2016.

The Mountaineers traveled to take on Arizona State, looking to win their fourth in a row. They haven’t lost a game since Aug. 29th at Penn State.

They would get out to an early lead with Gianna Koss’s goal in the 11th minute, her first of the season. Arizona State would answer right back with a goal of their own a minute later.

Later in the first half, the Mountaineers reclaimed their lead in the 33rd minute with a goal by Ajanae Repass, her team-leading sixth goal of the season. The Mountaineers finished the first half with ten shots to ASU’s four.

In the second half, the Mountaineers once again dominated shots, with nine to ASU’s one. Unlike the first half, though, the shots didn’t find the back of the net in the second half, which was scoreless.

The Mountaineers improved their overall record to 8-2-1 and 4-0 in Big-12 play; the first time they started that well in Big-12 play was in 2016 when they finished 8-0.

The Mountaineers will look to continue their winning streak against another Big-12 opponent on Sunday at Arizona. The game will kick off at 2:30 p.m. EST and be televised on ESPN+.
