After a dream start to the season for Victor Scott II back in March getting to start the season on the St. Louis Cardinal’s roster, the first half of the year did not quite go as planned for the outfielder.
Scott was never fully able to get his feet underneath him in the batters box or out in the field while playing for the Cardinals. In 21 games played and a total of 59 at-bats, Scott totaled five hits and two rbi for a .085 batting average. He was able to however show some flashes of his speed while picking up two stolen bases and scoring six runs in the limited times he reached base.
Out in the field, the former Mountaineer also committed several errors and after some time, the decision was made to spend Scott back down to the minor leagues slightly before the MLB’s All-Star break.
Drafted back in 2022 to the Cardinals as a fifth round selection, Scott will not continue to play in Triple-A for the Memphis Redbirds in hopes to work his way back towards an MLB roster spot.
