It’s been a fairly quite summer to this point for former Mountaineers in the NBA Summer League. WVU has six players in the league all competing for a spot on and NBA or G-League roster.
There have been a few key games in the very beginning such as RaeQuan Battle’s four threes made in his debut. But since then, Battle has gotten just one minute of action in the Hornets’ most recent game.
Jesse Edwards has been probably the most consistent player in the Summer League out of all former Mountaineers, but fans are still awaiting that big breakout game they saw during his time in Morgantown.
Two points, four rebounds, three assists, and 1-5 shooting was Edward’s most recent game of the summer where he played 13 minutes off the bench against the 76ers. The game before that however, the big man posted seven points, six rebounds and a block and steal in 17 minutes of action.
But there are some other names in the League competing as well such as former fan favorite Gabe Osabuohien who currently plays for the Cavaliers. Only get a couple minutes per game, Osabuohien has been doing what fans could probably assume; the dirty work.
Despite not getting much playing time, Erik Stevenson has tried to make the most of his few minutes received for the Hornets this summer. After not playing in a game earlier in the week, Stevenson played four minutes tuesday night where he did not miss.
Stevenson shot 3-3 from the field including a made three-pointer to total seven points and two steals in those four minutes of action. The play could potentially lead to more playing time for the former Mountaineer.
Emmitt Matthews Jr. has yet to see action in the Hawks’ two games this summer.
Each team still has a few more games to be played before the NBA Summer League officially comes to an end. Fans can watch former Mountaineers play on the ESPN channels as they compete to find an NBA home.
