Linebacker Daiveon Taylor has yet to finish his sophomore year of high school, but he took the next step Saturday toward his future.
Taylor kept WVU Football staff busy on Saturday, announcing shortly after the Gold-Blue Spring Game that he would be West Virginia’s first commit from the class of 2026.
The 6’2″ linebacker and western Pennsylvania native passed on offers from Pittsburgh and Penn State to play at WVU. Taylor ranks as Pennsylvania’s top linebacker in his class, and at 227 pounds, he already has the size necessary to compete at the collegiate level.
West Virginia is far in the future for Taylor, who has another new journey beginning this fall at Aliquippa Junior/Senior High School. Taylor announced his transfer to Aliquippa from Bishop Canevin less than two weeks ago.
Despite the long road ahead of him, Taylor’s eventual arrival in Morgantown will be cause for excitement among Mountaineer fans and several of his prospective teammates who played with and against Taylor in high school.
