Former West Virginia cornerback Beanie Bishop have signed undrafted free agent deals with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Minnesota Vikings respectively this evening following the conclusion of the 2024 NFL Draft.
Bishop played one season at West Virginia, becoming the program’s 13th Consensus All-American where he led the nation in pass breakups.
He and Zach Frazier both made pre-draft visits with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Frazier got the call by the Steelers at 51st overall, then they took a chance on Bishop as an undrafted guy to reunite the two in the pros.
Bishop joins a Steelers cornerback room that lost some pieces from 2023. They lost Patrick Peterson and Levi Wallace and acquired Donte Jackson via trade and also added Texas’ Ryan Watts via the draft at the position.
Nester played three seasons at West Virginia from 2021-2023 after playing his first two seasons at Virginia Tech. He started 52 career games and joined Beanie Bishop as participants in this year’s Shrine Bowl.
Like Bishop, Nester was projected by many to be an undrafted player in the 2024 NFL Draft. His agent announced that he is signing with the Minnesota Vikings as an UDFA.
Nester joins a Vikings o-line that includes the likes of Christian Darrisaw, Ed Ingram, and Brian O’Neill as starters. Like Beanie Bishop in the Steelers DB room, Nester will compete for some depth in the Vikings o-line room.
