West Virginia baseball figured things out at the plate on Sunday, helping them beat Oklahoma State 15-10 in game three of their three-game series.
West Virginia recorded 16 hits after combining for only eight in the first two games of the series, as they went 7-for-19 with runners in scoring position, not recording a single hit with a runner in scoring position on Friday or Saturday.
It started in the second inning and lasted all afternoon long at the Kendrick Family Ballpark. WVU put up six runs in the second, as Spencer Barnett hit a ground rule two-run double, before Kyle West would later plate three more on a double, as WVU was in front 6-1.
WVU ultimately led 9-1 as Barnett and Sam White each cashed in during the third inning. West would then record his third hit of the afternoon in the fourth inning, homering to right-center field. West Virginia led 10-3 after the third, but Oklahoma State tried to crawl back.
OSU made things interesting in the sixth inning, scoring two runs, before Hambleton Oliver was able to get a strikeout to end the threat. In the bottom of the inning, WVU got those two runs back, as Aaron Jamison doubles to plate one and Barnett singled to score the second run of the inning.
In all, WVU had eight of their nine starters record a hit, as eight of nine starters record a hit. Barnett finished the game with four hits, and five RBIs.
Maxx Yehl got the win for WVU, while Carson Estridge picked up the save.
