Wednesday night was the final home game of the season for West Virginia men’s basketball, and they honored six seniors prior to their game against TCU.
One of the guests that was on the court for WVU’s pregame festivities was former head coach Bob Huggins.
Jesse Edwards spoke after WVU’s loss on Wednesday, saying the decision to invite Huggins was one all the seniors agreed upon.
“Always good to see the guys that were recruited by Huggs, we’re still really close with Huggs and all the guys that played with him of course,” Edwards said. “We’re on really good terms and it was nice for us to have him be out there for this night to kind of full circle, have him be there for us as well. I think that was important for us to do that. I found it nice and him and June, have been really good to us.”
All six Mountaineers would walk the carpet to center court and give interim head coach Josh Eilert a hug. After that, they went and most of them were accompanied by family or friends, except for the two internationals in Edwards and Kerr Kriisa. Huggins would be there waiting for them both, and saw all the seniors that walked.
West Virginia ultimately lost Wednesday night’s matchup with the Horned Frogs, 93-81. Edwards finished with 36 points and 13 rebounds.
