West Virginia head coach Neal Brown did not release a starting quarterback or give much insight into multiple position battles across the board for WVU.
“We went this far, we might as well let it roll,” Brown said of his decision to not name a starting quarterback.
Brown also did not go into detail about position battles such as at WILL linebacker, kick returner, kickoff specialist, or any other positional battles.
“The reason I’m not getting into it a whole lot is they don’t have a depth chart,” Brown said. “Everybody that you know is going to play. Everybody that y’all think might play, they’re going to play.”
Brown said he feels there needs to be continuity between teams across college football on how to manage injury reports and depth charts.
“I’d be all for mandatory depth charts, mandatory injury reports. But until everybody does it, it’s not fair and balanced. I really think that’s the way that it should be done,” Brown said. Until everybody does it, we’re putting ourselves at a competitive disadvantage doing it.”
The biggest question mark comes at quarterback for Brown and WVU. Will the Mountaineers go with the more experienced option in Garrett Greene, or the younger guy in Nicco Marhciol.
