How Mountaineers fared in NFL Preseason Week 2

While the current Mountaineers are preparing for the season opener at Penn State, former Mountaineers are seeing action in the NFL Preseason.

Linebacker Tony Fields II of the Cleveland Browns has seen plenty of action this August. He was credited with 36 defensive snaps played, three combined tackles, and was graded at 65.5 by Pro Football Focus in Thursday’s tie against the Philadelphia Eagles.

On Friday, a few of former Mountaineers saw action in the Carolina Panthers game at the New York Giants.

In the loss, Wide receiver Gary Jennings saw 10 offensive snaps for the Panthers and caught a 20-yard touchdown pass on his lone reception of the preseason thus far. He also led the Panthers offense on the night with an 83.0 PFF grade.

On the flip side, offensive lineman Mark Glowinski and wide receivers David Sills V and Bryce Ford-Wheaton saw action for the Giants in the win.

Glowinski and the Giants starters saw action in the first half, with him playing 22 offensive snaps and grading out at 54.1 by Pro Football Focus.

Bryce Ford-Wheaton played 27 offensive snaps, catching two passes for 24 yards and grading out at 72.7 by PFF.

David Sills played 29 offensive snaps on the night. He was targeted once but did not catch a pass and was graded 52.6 by PFF.

Much of the Preseason Week 2 action took place on Saturday.

Linebacker David Long Jr. saw action with the Miami Dolphins, playing 12 defensive snaps, recording two tackles, and grading out at 74.9 by PFF in the win over the Houston Texans.

Safety Kenny Robinson played 31 defensive snaps for the Pittsburgh Steelers, recording four tackles and grading out at 56.4 by PFF in the win over the Buffalo Bills.

Offensive lineman Adam Pankey saw plenty of action for the New York Jets, playing 44 offensive snaps and grading out at 57.4 by PFF in the loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Linebacker Kyzir White and defensive lineman Dante Stills saw action for the Arizona Cardinals in their loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

White played 10 defensive snaps, recording two tackles and grading out at 68.7 by PFF.

Stills played 18 defensive snaps and graded out at 52.2 by PFF.

Cornerback Rasul Douglas saw action alongside the Green Bay Packers starters and played six defensive snaps, recording three combined tackles and grading out at 65.7 by PFF in the loss to the New England Patriots.

Tight end Trevon Wesco saw action for the Tennessee Titans, playing 10 offensive snaps and grading out at 54.6 by PFF in the win over the Minnesota Vikings.

Offensive lineman Colton McKivitz saw action alongside the San Francisco 49ers starters, playing 12 offensive snaps and grading out at 65.8 by PFF in the win over the Denver Broncos.

The two Mountaineer quarterbacks in the NFL squared off against each Saturday night other as Will Grier of the Dallas Cowboys visited Geno Smith of the Seattle Seahawks.

In the loss, Grier played 40 offensive snaps, completing 13 out of 18 pass attempts for 136 yards and an interception. PFF graded him at 58.5.

In the win, Smith saw action alongside the Seahawks starters and played 12 offensive snaps. He completed five out of six pass attempts for 46 yards and graded out at 72.1 by PFF.

Then on Monday night, defensive back Daryl Worley saw action for the Baltimore Ravens. He played 23 defensive snaps and graded out at 53.7 by PFF in the loss to the Washington Commanders.

The third and final week of NFL Preseason action kicks off tomorrow, with roster cutdowns set to take place next Tuesday, Aug. 29.
