Former Mountaineer Jackson Wolf made his MLB debut on Saturday, and in the process picked up his first-career wind.
It was a big jump for the left-hander, who was sent straight from AA to the big leagues. Wolf would throw five innings, allowing three runs, while also enduring almost a 90-minute rain delay in the middle of it all. His team — the San Diego Padres — would help him out, as they scored 14 runs, in their 14-3 win over the Tigers.
Wolf pitched for WVU in the 2021 season, and was drafted by the Padres. It took just about two years for Wolf to reach the major leagues. On Sunday though, Wolf was optioned back down to the minor leagues.
