After verbally committing over the weekend, West Virginia men’s basketball officially announced the transfer of Jeremiah Bembry.
Bembry, a 6-foot-5 guard from Brooklyn, New York, spent last season at Florida State. He did not see game action last season, but in two years at Executive Education Academy in Allentown, Pennsylvania, he averaged 13.9 points per game including 14.1 points in 15 games as a senior.
“I love the versatility and the size that Jeremiah will bring to the point guard position,” West Virginia head coach Josh Eilert said. “He’s an outstanding ball handler who can lead the break, penetrate and shoot. He’s a very athletic, left-handed guard who will fit in well into our defensive schemes with his tremendous length. Jeremiah is a high character student-athlete who comes from a great family. We are excited to have him join our Mountaineer basketball program.”
Bembry will most likely help sure up depth in the backcourt with Kerr Kriisa being the only point guard currently on West Virginia’s roster. Bembry will bring size and athleticism as well as a large body to help defend.
