WVU forward James Okonkwo has announced he is entering the transfer portal per his Twitter.
Okonkwo appeared in 31 games for the Mountaineers last season, averaging 2.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 0.7 blocks in 11 minutes per game. Okonkwo spent two seasons with the Mountaineers, appearing in just three games his freshman year.
“I would like to thank the players, staff, and fanbase that have supported me for the last 2 years at WVU for molding me into the player I am today. As of today I am entering my name into the transfer portal. Thank you for everything and I will always cherish my time at WVU,” Okonkwo wrote.
Okonkwo joins Mohamed Wague as the second Mountaineer to enter the portal today. Okonkwo will be entering his junior year and has two seasons of eligibility remaining, but could be granted a third by the NCAA after only appearing in three games his freshman year.
