Former West Virginia guard Erik Stevenson helped lead the Mountaineers back to the NCAA Tournament this past season, but while his college career is over, his basketball career is not.
Stevenson averaged 15.5 points per game last season, while shooting 39% from three and 44% from the field in his lone season in Morgantown, while being selected to the All-Big 12 Third Team. His performance earned him the opportunity to play in the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, a tournament that gathers the best college seniors and gives them an opportunity to play in front of NBA scouts.
Here, his team finished as the runner-up, losing the the final game of the tournament by four.
Stevenson started his tournament run, scoring 16 points on 6-11 shooting, and 4-8 from three. Stevenson also added four rebounds and three assists in the game.
The second game of the tournament was where Stevenson showed what he is capable of, scoring a game-high 23 points on 9-17 shooting, including 5-8 from three. Stevenson was named player of the game for his performance, where he also added six rebounds and two steals.g2
Stevenson struggled in the final game of the tournament shooting the ball, scoring only five points on 1-9 shooting while picking up four fouls. He was able to contribute in other ways though, showing that he is not just a scorer, grabbing four rebounds and dishing out five assists.
