West Virginia hosts No. 7 Texas on Saturday in what is another Big 12 clash. The Mountaineers are coming off their first conference win of the season against No. 14 TCU, while Texas is coming off a loss on the road to No. 12 Iowa State.
Wesley Shoemaker: The Mountaineers got the monkey off their back against TCU, but will they do it against the Longhorns. I think Texas is really good and experienced, but I think the home court will play an advantage. If West Virginia can cause problems with their scramble-like defense they displayed against TCU, they should find success. Obviously, they also need to convert offensively, but Texas is giving up the most three-pointers per game since the beginning of Big 12 play in the conference. I think that helps WVU as Erik Stevenson and Seth Wilson combine to have a big game from beyond the arc.
West Virginia 82, Texas 77
Aaron Parker: After picking up an all-important win over TCU, the Mountaineers will have another challenge ahead of them as they prepare to make up ground in the Big 12 standings. No. 7 Texas poses a large offensive threat with the likes of Marcus Carr, Tyrese Hunter, and Timmie Allen. I think WVU’s Tre Mitchell and Joe Toussaint will have nice games offensively, but I think Texas’s Carr will score 25 points and with other offensive weapons, I see Saturday’s contest being another close conference loss.
Texas 80, West Virginia 71
