Following their two game road trip, the Mountaineers are returning home for their final match of the season, hosting Kansas State on Thursday at 7 p.m.
West Virginia (6-4-7, 3-1-4), is coming off a comeback win over Oklahoma, where the Mountaineers trailed by two goals in the first half. Junior midfielder AJ Rodriguez scored her team leading fourth and fifth goals in the comeback victory, with Dilary Heredia-Beltran scoring her second goal of the season as the eventual game winner.
Jordan Brewster is expected to break the Mountaineer record for career starts on Thursday, after tying Sh’Nia Gordon in the last match with 95 career starts.
Kansas State (6-8-3, 2-4-2), has played three straight home matches, going 1-1-1. Their previous match was a 1-1 draw over the Kansas Jayhawks.
The player to watch for the Wildcats is senior forward Kyler Goins, who leads the team with five goals on the season, to go along with two assists, which is tied for third best on the team.
West Virginia has never lost to the Wildcats, playing them five times, winning four of them and drawing one. Kansas State has only scored two goals against the Mountaineers in those five matches, with the match last season going to double overtime.
West Virginia is hoping to continue their strong end of the season heading into the Big 12 tournament, which they guaranteed themselves a spot in with their win over Oklahoma last match.
