West Virginia’s all-time leader in three-point field goals, Alex Ruoff is coming back to West Virginia.
On Friday, it was announced that Ruoff will be joining the Mountaineers as a graduate assistant this season. Ruoff left West Virginia in 2009 as the 18th all-time leading scorer. He also averaged 15.7 points in his senior season.
After playing at West Virginia, Ruoff played professionally for 12 seasons. This announcement comes on the heels of Ruoff announcing his retirement from his playing career on Friday morning.
“I am walking away healthy, grateful beyond measure, and giving God all the glory,” Ruoff said in a note on Twitter.
Ruoff will now be under the guidance of Hall of Fame head coach Bob Huggins, who Ruoff said helped make him the player he turned out to be.
“Bob Huggins, not only taking my game to the next level, but instilling in me a toughness, sense of pride I carried with me all throughout my career and still do to this day,” Ruoff said in the note.
