This Wednesday, schools from the Big 12 Conference held the first installment of the Big 12 media days at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
The schools represented were Kansas, Oklahoma State, West Virginia, Baylor, and Kansas State. Each school had their respective head coaches and selected players answer a variety of questions about the upcoming season and their expectations.
One of the players who represented West Virginia was defensive standout Dante Stills.
Stills looked at his all-around skillset as the best part of his game, with an ability to play in many different spots on the defensive front. “I feel like I’m very versatile, I feel like I can play inside, I can play the one, the three, the five, so that’s one thing that I take to heart. Especially the defensive line because you know I don’t want to play just one position, I want to play all of them,” Stills said.
Head coach Neal Brown stressed the importance of Stills returning to the team, expecting a larger role from him this fall. “The most important times of the year for Dante are in our winter conditioning and our summer and that’s where he’s really stepped up and been more mature about his preparation and it’s going to show up. I really believe that Dante Stills is sitting on a huge year for us this fall,” Brown said.
This past season Stills played in all 13 games, recording a total of 36 tackles and a team high 15 tackles for loss. He also had a total of six quarterback hits and seven sacks.
Dante Stills will continue his role as a dominant force for the Mountaineers’ defense when West Virginia opens up their 2022 season in Pittsburgh, against the Pitt Panthers on Sept. 1.
