Former West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith is staying with the Seattle Seahawks.
The 31-year-old quarterback, signed a one-year deal with the Seahawks on Thursday, a place he has spent his last two seasons in Seattle, after spending time with the Giants, Chargers, and Jets.
Smith played in the absence of Russell Wilson last season, starting three games, and throwing for 702 yards and five touchdowns, while throwing only one interception.
Smith, got drafted by the Jets in 2013, and this past season was the most he’s seen the field since his sophomore season in 2014.
The Seahawks are currently in the post-Russell Willson era, after trading him to the Denver Broncos this offseason, and it seems as though Smith will have the chance to earn the job.
